Barley 2015
Gleann Na hEorna, Respond Housing, Dublin
Percent for art commission to design and facilitate a community art project for Respond resulting in a gable end wall mounted artwork, community glass window and metal entrance gate working in collaboration with Bianca Divito a glass artist based in Ireland.
The proposal was inspired by the poem The wind that shakes the barley by Irish poet Kathleen Tynan reflecting the name Gleann Na hEorna, meaning barley fields and the recent history of Tallaght. There was community consultation and drop in art workshops which were open to all residents were held at the community centre and Rua Red the local arts centre. Elements of the participants artwork were used to inform the designs for the gate.
